Indian River County Park System host 41 parks this includes oceanfront, riverfront, inland parks and regional parks. The following parks form part of Vero Beach and Indian River County's Parks System: Ambersands Beach Access, Blue Cypress Park, Dale Wimbrow Park, Donald MacDonald Park, Gifford Park, Goldensands Park, Joe Earman Island Park, Kiwanis Hobart Park, North County Regional Park, Roseland Ball Field (Helen Hanson), Roseland Community Park and Community Center, Round Island Oceanside Park, Round Island Park, Seagrape Trail Beach Access, Sebastian Canoe Launch, South County Regional Park, Tracking Station Park, Treasure Shores Park, Turtle Trail Beach Access, Wabasso Beach Park, and Wabasso Causeway Park. Visitors have the option of walking on one of the non-commercialized boardwalks at night with the moon reflecting on the Atlantic Ocean, admiring the many tropical flowers while walking along one of our nature trails, playing a few sets of tennis or having a picnic with family and friends.

Every year 40,000 to 70,000 nests are deposited with eggs by Female Sea turtles at Ambersands Beach. This Beach is the most important nesting area in the United States. Blue Cypress Park activities include bird-watching, wildlife viewing, fishing, seasonal hunting, bicycling, canoeing and hiking along many miles of levees. Designated areas are available for primitive camping.

The Eastern portion of the area contains foraging and nesting habitat for the endangered Snail Kite. Wetland dependent species found here include Great Blue Herons, White Ibis, Snowy Egrets, Limpkins, and Night Herons. Other birds using the area include endangered Wood Storks, Ospreys and Bald Eagles. Blue Cypress Park, include 2 boat launches, a floating dock, paved parking, grass overflow parking, restroom facilities with showers and 2 covered pavilions. North County Regional Park, opened on November 30, 2002. North County Regional Park, includes an Olympic pool and diving facilities, a 7,000 sf zero entry activity pool and a pool building at a cost of approximately $5.8 million. Phase II includes the construction of 4 multipurpose baseball fields, concession stand/ press box, 2 shelters, a maintenance building and playground. The project cost is $2.1 million and is scheduled to be completed in early February 2005.
